Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She appears regularly in CNN's "New Day weekend"', and HLN's "Weekend Express', as in CNN International programming. She worked as meteorologist for local stations on the air in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga before she joined CNN. She's reported on flooding, wildfires and hurricanes and even snowstorms. In the year 2019 she was nominated for an Emmy award for her reporting of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. In April of 2011, she covered the Super Tornado Outbreak, where 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. Around 200 tornadoes occurred on April 27, 2011. Her background being an ecoscientist has made it possible for her to publish stories on climate change and natural disasters such as the eruption of volcanoes, earthquakes, and so on. Chinchar has a bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science, which she obtained from The Ohio State University. She's also a part of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
