Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a popular public speaker. She founded Feminist Frequency a website that hosts videos and commentary analyzing portrayals of women in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has been awarded accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that explores the representations of females in popular culture narratives. Alongside working to highlight the problems surrounding sexual harassment and attacks on women, others of minority groups in the online world, she is dedicated to breaking the stereotypes associated with popular culture. A graduate in the field of political and social thinking from York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaker and she has delivered talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. When she was a student at the university Sarkeesian was interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women in the early stages. It was a girl with a dream to develop an online series which would explore gender representations in video games. But, she was victimized by online harassment. The attack wasn't enough to deter her. In fact, it increased her importance as a feminist and media critique. Her notable contributions to the feminist field have been recognized by numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning media journalist. She is also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organisation that studies pop culture gender representations.
