Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children who would grow up together eventually, learned very early on how to conquer of her difficulties through her vibrant and vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write she wrote her own songs. The first guitar she received was gifted by her mother when she was eighteen. The singer began her singing career at a Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. At the age of 16, she established herself in the local community, however her dream was greater. After graduating high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for his syndicated television show. Parton took the offer in 1967 and signed to RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and made it to Number. The first time it reached the top spot was in 1974.
