Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. Two football. He is among three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. For the three seasons that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. He then began his career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. His parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
